Thiruvananthapuram : The Kerala college professor is in legal problem after making derogatory statement against women modesty. His inappropriate comment against women has triggered bare-breasted protests by women across in the Thiruvananthapuram state. The state police have filed a case against Jouhar Munawar, accusing him of "outraging the modesty of women".

Two month past, Professor Jouhar Munawar in his speech has criticized women for not covering up their breasts “properly” and displaying them like watermelon. The speech went viral on social media which has created agitation in the state. Sources confirmed that female students marched to the main gate of Farook College with slices of watermelon, demanding legal action against the assistant professor

A 20-year-old sociology student of Kozhikode's Farook College has filed the complaint against him after the video of a speech he delivered at a private crowd went public. In the speech, the professor is heard saying: "Even though you are covering, there are parts where skin can be seen... When you are wearing hijab, you are supposed to cover your breasts because men find them most attractive in a woman... But what are they doing? They are only covering their head and they show off a portion of their body."

He continued, "Have you seen watermelon? In shops, people keep a cut watermelon cut on display so that customers can come and choose what they want. That is how you (women) are also behaving.". The video was widely shared and went viral, two months after the remark was made.

Students of the college and across the state are on protests, carrying and distributing watermelons. Some women have also taken social media to post nude pictures or posing with watermelons to attack the unsolicited counsel

The Kozhikode's Farook College, where Munawar teaches had distanced itself from the professor's comment, saying the incident did not happen on the premises and it was not the opinion of the college either. Moreover, the college sources mentioned that the professor has been on leave this week.
