New Delhi : Veteran BJP leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi will be attending the groud-breaking ceremony for building of Ram temple in Ayodhya via video conference, said a news report.

An NDTV report claimed that the two leaders were invited via a phone call on Saturday by the trust set-up by Supreme Court to look after the construction of the temple. An invitation is also being sent to the two senior leaders by the General Secretary of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.

Major preparations are underway for the ground-breaking ceremony on August 5. A 40kg silver brick as the foundation stone will be installed on the day by honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The list of attendees has been trimmed to 50 in wake of the current situation of coronavirus in India.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena has demanded an invitation for Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, claiming they played vital role in the matter.

In November 2019, the Supreme Court ruled that the then disputed 2.77 acres in Ayodhya would be given to a government-run trust for the building of a temple for Lord Ram and Muslims will be given a five-acre "suitable" plot elsewhere in the district.

The verdict, in a case that has been and continues to be a religious and political flashpoint, was passed unanimously by a five-judge constitution bench amid appeals for peace by political and religious leaders and heightened security across the country.
