Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tondon passes away at 85
Bhopal : MP Governor Lalji Tondon, who was admitted to a hospital in Lucknow a month ago, has passed away at an age of 85 years. He was taken to Medanta Hospital on June 11 after complaints of breathing issues and fever.
His son posted the news of his demise on Twitter; he wrote, "Babuji nahin rahe (my father is no more)."
Days after getting admitted to the hospital, Lalji Tondon's health deteriorated due to liver and urine infection. He was put on ventilator on June 16.
In his absence, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, whom he succeeded as the 22nd Madhya Pradesh Governor, was given additional charge of the state.
Born on April 12, 1935, Tandon was considered as a protege of the late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. In May 2009, he was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from the Lucknow seat, which Vajpayee had held for 4 consecutive terms since 1991.
