Maharashtra: Devendra Fadnavis meets RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat

Mumbai : Amid ongoing tussle between Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party on power sharing in Mahrashtra, caretaker Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat.

According to sources, the closed-door meeting with Mohan Bhagwat and RSS general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi over the current political situation in the state lasted for about 45-minutes.

A RSS swayamsevak, spoke to Hindustan Times and said, they discussed various options for formation of government in the state. The possible options included seeking NCP’s help and a faction from the Sena which wants to join hands with the BJP in government formation.

However, it has been learned that Devendra Fadnavis has been advised to keep the saffron flock together. If BJP fails to convince Sena, then they must move towards President's rule and face fresh elections.

During the discussion, Bhagwat reportedly told Fadnavis that the party should take senior BJP leader and union minister Nitin Gadkari into confidence and involve him for negotiations with the Sena leaders for government formation.

Earlier, on the day, a Shiv Sena leader also demanded Nitin Gadkari's involvement in the matter.

From the day the results for Assembly Elections were announced, Shiv Sena had been demanding 50-50 power sharing on the Chief Minister post in the state.
