Maharashtra records most rapes, cases of assault in 2014

Mumbai : Delhi a rape capital? Think again! Maharashtra has recorded the largest number of rapes and cases of assault in the year 2015.
Amongst all Indian states Maharashtra has topped the chart.
Union Home Minister Maneka Gandhi told Lok Sabha about the figures that make place Maharashtra on top of shame.
The highest number of such cases were in Maharashtra (13,827), followed by Madhya Pradesh (13,323) and Andhra Pradesh (13,267) for 2014.
Maneka also said that women security in our country is the utmost priority for all.
While another senior bureaucrat said police have shown lack of seriousness on many occasion.
"We need more women officials in police stations. In fact, Maharashtra is the only state which does not have an all-women police station,'' he said.
