Mumbai : A sudden surge in coronavirus cases has been registered in Maharashtra in past few days. 1,036 new coronavirus cases have been registered yesterday with the weekly average surpassing 1,000-mark on Sunday.

The maximum number of coronavirus cases were registered in Mumbai; 676 new coronavirus infections were registered on Monday in the financial capital.

The state health authorities have said that the severity in cases is low so there is no need to panic at the moment.

Maharashtra currently have 7,249 active coronavirus cases. Out of them 5,238 in Mumbai and 1,172 in neighbouring Thane. Maharashtra’s positivity rate is at 0.064 per cent. Presently, recovery rate in the state is 98.03 per cent and case fatality rate is 1.87 per cent.

Meanwhile, there is no information if the reopening of the schools will be delayed due to increasing number of coronavirus case. As per notice, the schools will open on the scheduled June 15 with all possible coronavirus precautions.
