New Delhi : Addressing the nation via his monthly radio show Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged youngsters to make videos in their regional language to promote the diversity in India.

India had achieved Independence 75 years ago, still people do not feel comfortable in speaking their native languages, wearing regional dresses and more. PM Modi said, such is not the case anywhere in the world.

People must feel proud in speaking their local language and showcasing the regional stuff.

During his show, PM Modi also noted how his government is doing efforts in bringing back lost ancient idols to India.

"Till 2013, only 13 idols were brought back. But in last seven years, mote than 200 ancient idols have been brought to India," PM Modi said.

To promote the diversity in India, youth can move forward and make videos in local language.

The world's oldest language – Tamil – comes from India and we must be proud to inherit it. The people of India are proud to be associated with 121 forms of mother tongues and 14 of these languages are spoken by more than one crore people in everyday life, the prime minister said.

In 2019, Hindi was ranked third most spoken language in the world.
