Meerut : In a shocking incident, captured on CCTV camera, an old woman and her son - key witness of a murder case - were gunned down by unidentified men in Meerut. The two victims were scheduled to testify in court the next day.

One of the accused has been arrested by the cops while five policemen – including a station house officer – were suspended for failing to provide security to the key witnesses in the 2016 murder case.

Nichhatar Kaur, 60, and her son Balwinder, 26 were eyewitnesses to the murder of her husband, Narender Singh, who was allegedly shot dead by a close relative for not supporting him in the panchayat election.

CCTV video clip of the double murder has gone viral on the internet.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, Meerut senior superintendent of police Manzil Saini said the victims received eight gunshots.

The relatives claim that Balwinder had sought police security at least three to four times before the attack. The CCTV in the house was also installed by him as he had been receiving threat calls.

Reports said one of the two absconding accused has been identified as Maange, elder brother of the man accused of killing Narender.
