Meme on PM Modi lands AIB in legal trouble; Mumbai Police frames charges

New Delhi : All India Bakchod (AIB), an online social media entertainment channel, once again landed in legal trouble when Mumbai Police filed an FIR against them for making a meme on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The FIR has been filed by cyber crime branch under the Indian Penal Code and of transmitting obscene material in electronic form under the Information Technology Act. The complaint has been registered against AIB Twitter handle.

The group had shared pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with alterations to push humour in them. In one picture, Mr Modi can be seen looking into his cell phone while in the other his picture was pasted with Snapchat’s famous dog filter.

The pictures went viral in few minutes after being shared on the social media platforms, attracting the ire of several people who took offense to it. Some of the users poster their concern to Mumbai Police. 

“An FIR against AIB has been registered at the Cyber Police station after due legal consultation,” Mumbai Police spokesperson DCP Rashmi Karandikar said.
