Midnight fire at North Goa’s club kills 23

At least 23 people have been reportedly killed in a midnight fire at a club in North Goa’s Arpora late Saturday night.

According to the police, the fire broke out at a club with name Birch by Romeo Lane at Baga, which is one of the most famous clubs in the region. It has been learned that the fire broke out after a cylinder blast.

As per initial inputs, majority of those who have lost their lives in the incident are club staff members.

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa also shared his reaction to the news on Twitter and mentioned that it is one of the most painful nights for Goa. He offered his condolences to the families of the deceased.

By the time this report is being published, fire tenders and rescue operation teams were executing the operation at the site, where fire has been controlled. The fire was mainly concentrated around the kitchen area on the ground floor.

Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi also shared his views over the incident. While offering his condolence, he also mentioned that he spoke to Hon’ble CM of Goa, who assured that all possible assistance is being provided to the ones who have been affected by the incident.
