MP: Hospital sealed after photos of patient tied to bed goes viral

New Delhi : Shajapur district administration has cancelled the license of a hospital that allegedly tied one of its patients to bed for non-payment of treatment fees.

The hospital manager was booked and around six rooms were sealed of the medical facility for preliminary investigation after the images of an elderly patient went viral on the social media.

60-year-old Laxminarayan Dangi was admitted to Shajapur district hospital after complaints of stomach ache; he was later tied to the bed as the family failed to pay the total treatment cost of around Rs 11,000, said his daughter.

The hospital claimed that he was suffering from convulsions and was tied to prevent injuries.

The viral pictures of the man drew attention of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who ordered instant probe into the matter.

The CMHO has suspended the license of the hospital and an enquiry has been ordered.
