New Delhi : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Wayanad constituency for the first time since his disqualification as Lok Sabha Member of Parliament; he slammed BJP and announced that being an MP is just a tag and the saffron party cannot stop him.

During a passionate address to a massive gathering in Wayanad, Kerala, Gandhi boldly declared, "Being an MP is just a tag or position, and BJP can take away my tag, position, and even my house or put me in jail, but they cannot silence me from representing the people of Wayanad."

In March, Rahul Gandhi was disqualified as the MP of Waynad after a Surat Court convicted and sentenced him for 2 years in jail in a criminal defamation case over his remarks on people with Modi surname.

The Congress leader claimed that BJP is trying all possible ways to stop him but the disqualification has only deepen his bond with the people of Wayanad.

Unfazed by the attacks against him, the former MP proclaimed, "The more they try to silence me, the louder I will speak about the same issue...but I will never back down."

Rahul and his sister Priyanka took part in a roadshow called 'Satyameva Jayate' in Kalpetta, where only the national flag flew high, eschewing party flags.

Speaking to the gathered crowd, Priyanka expressed indignation, stating that her brother Rahul Gandhi had been "mercilessly attacked" by the entire government, ministers, and even the Prime Minister, simply because he dares to ask questions.
