Amritsar : Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday said that he has taken his resignation back but in no time said that he will return to the party office when "a new Advocate General is appointed".

Well, new appointment could be a tough call as some reports have suggested that Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has rejected resignation of APS Deol, the man Mr Sidhu want to be removed from the post of Advocate General of Punjab.

"I have taken back my resignation," Mr Sidhu told reporters, finally announcing what had been anticipated three weeks ago after his meeting with Rahul Gandhi.

"When a new Advocate General is appointed I will go to the party office and take charge," he added.

It has been reported that APS Deol had given his resignation to CM Channi after Sidhu's constant demand of getting him removed.

The state government is yet to announce if they have accepted or rejected the resignation. But, some media reports have quoted sources close to the matter as claiming that his resignation has been rejected by CM Channi.

Mr Sidhu resigned in a huff in September over his objections to the appointments made by the man who replaced his rival Amarinder Singh as Chief Minister - Charanjit Singh Channi.
