New coronavirus cases in India decline for second consecutive day, recovery rate improves

New Delhi : 18,522 new coronavirus cases were registered in India in last 24 hours, taking the total toll of positive coronavirus cases to 5,66,840; recovery rate also improved to 59.06%. This was the second consecutive day when India registered a decline in new coronavirus cases. On Sunday, 19,906 fresh cases were reported while on Monday 19,459, according to health ministry figures.

With 418 new deaths from coronavirus in last 24 hours, the total number of fatalities has gone up to 16,893.

The number of active cases stands at 2,15,125, while 3,34,821 patients have recovered. In past 24 hours, 13,099 patients were declared cured from coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the Central government has announced guidelines for Unlock 2 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has informed that he will be addressing the nation at 4:00 pm on Tuesday (June 30).

ICMR, on the other hand, informed that they have tested a total of 86,08,654 samples till June 29.

Globally, total covid cases surged to 1.02 crore while the death toll to 5.04 lakh, according to latest numbers compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
