New Delhi : A new fight against coronavirus started in India today as vaccination of 12-14 years of kids has started. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted and called it an "important day" for the nation. He also noted that all elders above 60 years of age are eligible for booster dose.

PM Modi tweeted: "Today is an important day in India’s efforts to vaccinate our citizens. Now onwards, youngsters in the 12-14 age group are eligible for vaccines and all those above 60 are eligible for precaution doses. I urge people in these age groups to get vaccinated."


He also noted India's contribution in fight against coronavirus across the world. Under "Vaccine Maitri programme", India has sent several vaccines across the world.

"In line with India’s ethos of caring for the entire planet, we sent vaccines to several nations under the Vaccine Maitri programme. I am glad that India’s vaccination efforts have made the global fight against COVID-19 stronger," PM Modi said in another tweet.


Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also paid a visit to a vaccination center and interacted with kids who took the vaccine. He also distributed chocolates among the vaccinated kids at the center.
