Nirav Modi found in UK, CBI files for extradition

London : Fugitive billionaire Nirav Modi has been spotted in the United Kingdom, officials have confirmed to India. The CBI instantly moved in a request to London to extradite the jeweller, who is wanted in bank loan fraud case here.

Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi are accused in the Rs. 13,500 crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case.

Earlier, this month in the Parliament, the government had said that they have moved in an extradition request for Nirav Modi to the Indian commission in UK.

The request has been sent by a Special Diplomatic Bag to the High Commission of India in London, VK Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs, had said in parliament.

Nirav Modi is the 29th fugitive India has asked UK to extradite since 2002. The UK has rejected India's request nine times in last 16 years.
