No Makar Sankranti feast at Lalu Prasad Yadav's home this year

Patna : With RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav spending jail term at Ranchi's Birsa Munda prison and death of his elder sister Gangotri Devi, his family has decided not to throw Makar Sankaranti feast this year.

It has been a tradition from years when people from across the state used to visit RJD's first family and enjoy delicacies. This year, the day will pass silently.

Lalu Prasad Yadav has been sentenced to 3.5 years of jail term in one of the fodder scams.

CBI special court judge, however, promised Lalu Prasad Yadav to arrange Dahichura for him inside jail during Makar Sankranti. Mr Yadav had sought bail on grounds of celebrating the festival with people of Bihar and health grounds.

Last year, Lalu's family also had a gala time on Makar Sankranti. His eldest daughter Misa Bharti too was in town to celebrate the feast. Around 20,000 people, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and several JDU leaders had also visited Lalu's residence.
