No place for Taj Mahal in Uttar Pradesh tourism booklet
Agra : Has Yogi Adityanath's word turned into a reality by the Uttar Pradesh tourism department? In June this year, he had said that according to him, the Ramayana and Bhagwad Gita represent the Indian culture and not the Taj Mahal. And, now, in the latest edition of UP tourism booklet, the monument has been given a complete miss.
On World Tourism Day, Uttar Pradesh government released another edition of the booklet - ‘Uttar Pradesh Paryatan – Apaar Sambhavnayen’. The booklet covered almost all major tourist destination in the state, but there was nothing about Taj Mahal that features among the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’ and attract many tourists to the state.
Later clarifying on the matter, the UP Government said that is has happened by mistake and they will be adding a picture of Taj Mahal in the booklet.
The cover of this booklet has a picture of a Ganga Aarti ceremony, along with the photos of Tourism Minister Rita Bahuguna Joshi and CM Adityanath on the first page.
The Adityanath-led BJP government’s first state budget for 2017-18 had also ditched Taj Mahal and made no mention of it in the special section ‘Hamari Sanskritik Virasat’ (Our Cultural Heritage) that was incorporated in the finance minister’s 63-page statement.
