VIP treatment to Gurmeet Ram Rahim in Rohtak jail? Haryana Government rejects claims

Rohtak : Rejecting claims by Gurmeet Ram Rahim's jail inmates, Haryana Government on Tuesday said that no VIP treatment is being given to Dera Sacha Sauda chief in Rohtak jail. Haryana Jail Minister Krishan Lal Panwar also claimed that due to enough distance between the barracks the inmates cannot interact with Gurmeet, who has been lodged on the charges of double rape.

"He isn’t being given VIP treatment and is living like any other inmate. There’s a lot of distance between barracks, they can’t even interact so he’s saying just like that," said Krishan Lal Panwar.

The reaction from Haryana Jail Minister came after an inmate out on bail claimed that Gurmeet Ram Rahim is getting a VIP treatment inside the jail. He also claimed that Dera chief has never been seen working in the Rohtak prison premises.

Rahul Jain, the convict out on bail said that the attitude of jail authorities towards Ram Rahim was different as compared to other prisoners. “While rest of the prisoners can only meet visitors for 20 minutes when Ram Rahim’s visitors come they are allowed to stay for 2 hours. We have never seen him work either…don’t think he does any jail work,” Rahul said.
