Noida society bans wearing lungi or nighty in open

Noida : In a bizzare ban imposed at Himsagar Apartments in Greater Noida, the residents have been asked not to wear the lungi or nighty in the premises. Some of the residents have welcomed the move, while the others have criticized it.

The notice reads, "It is expected from all of you that whenever you roam in the society at any time, you should pay special attention to your conduct and dress so that you do not give any chance to someone to object to your behaviour… Therefore, everyone is requested not to roam around wearing lungi and nightie which are home wear."

In a tweet shared by news agency ANI, a resident with the name Abhishek has been quoted as saying, "This is a good decision taken by society and everyone must respect it, there is nothing to oppose. If women wear nighties and roam around, that will be uncomfortable for men and if men wear Lungis that would be uncomfortable for women as well so we need to respect each other."

Meanwhile, there were residents who criticized the move and said that the society cannot act like Khap Panchayats and pass an order. The choice to wear desired cloths is a personal matter and no one can impose a restriction or ban on it.
