On camera: Hyundai i10 runover by truck on Mumbai-Pune expressway

New Delhi : A road trip proved to be fatal for three members of a family after their car met with an accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway. 

On a footage of a camera, the car can be seen runover by a truck. The incident took place in a way that the car got punched between two trucks. The impact was such that three occupants of the car, including a four-year-old boy, died on the spot.

The car also caught fire after the accident. The highway petrol team reached the accident spot and rescued the driver of the container truck. He has been hospitalized.

Nearly 1.5 lakh people have died in road accidents last year across the nation.

The country accounts for the highest number of such incidents -- 4.5 lakh -- globally every year, with more than 4.5 lakh people being crippled and resulting in losses accounting up to 3.14 per cent of the GDP, the World Bank said in a report released earlier this year.
