New Delhi : More than 70 international and domestic flights were reportedly cancelled on Wednesday after Air India reported that its cabin crew members went on 'mass sick leave'. Nearly 300 senior cabin crew members sent a message that they were sick and then switched off their mobile phones.

According to a media report, the Air India Express management is trying to reach the crew, who are protesting against the new employment term at Tata Group-owned airline. It has been learned that the cabin crew has raised complaints over discrimination in their jobs after the merger.

The report mentioned that some staffers have been offered lower job profiles despite clearing the interviews.

The company has cleared that all guests who have been impacted by these flight cancellations will be offered a full refund for their respective flights; complimentary rescheduling of the flights will also be offered.

Meanwhile, several passengers have mentioned on the social media about the sudden cancellations and also raised discomfort they have to face with it. Some of the passengers said that they got information about cancellation only after they reached the airport.

"We apologise for any inconvenience. Please be informed that your flight has been cancelled due to operational reasons," Air India Express said in response to one of the posts on X.
