Faridabad : Chaotic scenes were seen at the Delhi-Faridabad border after authorities sealed it at 12 pm and stopped people, including the ones associated in essential services, from crossing it. Haryana has sealed all its borders with the national capital, excluding Gurugram where one needs to show special pass for crossing it.

In Faridabad, even essential service providers like doctors, policemen, bank employees, media personnel and those carrying medical supplies were not allowed to enter. Only vehicles carrying essential commodities such as vegetables, fruits and dairy products were allowed.

According to a news report, a man associated with cardiac procedure products said that he had to go to Delhi for delivery of some medicines. He asked the cops before entering Delhi if he can return by 12:30pm. Apparently, he was told that he can but when he returned around 12:05 pm, he was stopped and had to face the troubles.

In another incident, a pregnant woman and her husband was stopped by the policemen who were going to see a doctor in Faridabad from Delhi. They were allowed to pass after they pleaded the cops for a couple of minutes.

The decision from Faridabad administration to seal the borders came in wake of rising cases in the districts via people working in the national capital. Haryana health minister Anil Vij had earlier called Haryana residents who work in Delhi as "corona carriers". Mr Vij had also appealed to the Delhi chief minister to arrange the stay for such people in the national capital itself.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also claimed that the strict measures had to be taken in terms of border sealing to ensure no coronavirus cases rise in the state.

"We will not allow this (coronavirus) infection to enter our state from Delhi". Mr Khattar said COVID-19 cases are either linked to those who are employed in Delhi, their family members or their contacts.

Meanwhile, authorities have claimed that people were informed in advance and given enough time to make alternative arrangements to outster the need of crossing borders.
