Kolkata : Clicking pictures on Kolkata's iconic Howrah Bridge will soon become a reality, said a news report. Currently, photography on the iconic bridge is strictly prohibited.

According to the media report, Kolkata Post Trust, which owns and maintains the bridge, is considering a proposal to withdraw restrictions on photography on the bridge.

KoPT Chairman Vinit Kumar as quoted in the report said, "Such restrictions are of no relevance today when satellite images of all structures and locations are available on the internet.

About Kolkata's Howrah Bridge

Connecting the cities Kolkata and Howrah, the bridge turned 75 year old this year. The Howrah Bridge is one of the busiest bridges in the country, which was opened in 1943. To ensure the safety of the bridge, there were no lights lit on it during the night so that it cannot be seen from the air.

As per current norms, if someone wants to shoot on the Howrah Bridge, he is required to pay commercial fees and take permission from the authorities. The last major Bollywood film to be shot on the bridge was Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Piku.
