About Kolkata's Howrah Bridge
Connecting the cities Kolkata and Howrah, the bridge turned 75 year old this year. The Howrah Bridge is one of the busiest bridges in the country, which was opened in 1943. To ensure the safety of the bridge, there were no lights lit on it during the night so that it cannot be seen from the air.
As per current norms, if someone wants to shoot on the Howrah Bridge, he is required to pay commercial fees and take permission from the authorities. The last major Bollywood film to be shot on the bridge was Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Piku.
