PM Modi demands Delhi's mandate to avoid Shaheen Bagh, Jamia like protests

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi aimed his gun for Delhi Elections on the shoulders of anti-CAA protests in Jamia and Shaheen Bagh. He accused Aam Aadmi Party and Congress of designing the protests and claimed that the two parties are playing politics of appeasement.

"Hiding behind the constitution and the national flag, they are giving lectures," he said at a rally days before the assembly elections.

The Prime Minister on Monday posted a question - if these protests were a "coincidence"?

"Whether it is Seelampur, Jamia or Shaheen Bagh, there have been multiple protests against the CAA. Do you think these protests are a coincidence? It is not. It is all an experiment rooted in politics. If it was simply about a law, it would have ended," PM Modi said.

Talking about the Shaheen Bagh protest for which the road has been blocked for weeks, he said, "If their game plan is not stopped, they will block another road or gully tomorrow. We can't let them spread anarchy. Your vote has the power to put a stop to this".

PM Modi's comments on Shaheen Bagh come days after BJP leaders passed comments full of hatred against the protesters. Last Monday, Union Minister Anurag Thakur was caught on camera at a rally in northwest Delhi, egging on a crowd to chant a slogan that calls for gunning down "traitors".

A day later, party MP Parvesh Verma said: "Lakhs of people gather there (Shaheen Bagh). They will enter your houses, rape your sisters and daughters, kill them. There's time today... Modi-ji and Amit Shah won't come to save you tomorrow".

Yesterday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP's star campaigner Yogi Adityanath also have his approval to using bullets to deal with dissenters.

Accusing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of "supplying biryani to those protesting in Shaheen Bagh and elsewhere in the city," Yogi Adityanath said since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, "we have been identifying every terrorist and feeding them goli (bullets) instead of biryani".
