PM Modi launches 3 high-volume Covid-19 test labs
New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated three high-capacity Covid-19 test labs in Noida, Kolkata and Mumbai. The facilities will be able to test over 10,000 coronavirus samples in a day and reduce turnaround time and exposure of lab personnel to infectious clinical material.
Currently, the testing will be limited to coronavirus but it future it will be extended for the testing of other diseases including Hepatitis B, HIV and dengue.
During his address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned that India has become the second biggest manufacturer of PPE kits in the world. India has shown a significant growth from zero manufacturers of PPE kit six months back to having more than 1,200 manufacturers now.
Over 5 lakh PPE kits are being manufactured daily in India.
The ventilator manufacturing capacity has also increased to 3 lakh per year.
