President goes gaga over PM's initiative to empower women

New Delhi : • President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to empower women

• He also lauded PM’s campaign – Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.

• President was speaking at National conference on ' Women Legislation: Building Resurgent India'.

• Only 12 per cent women represent membership of the Parliament.

• "Prime Minister Modi's firm commitment to true empowerment of Indian women is exemplified by his presence here," he said.

• "I thank Prime Minister Modi for, immediately after assuming the office, speaking of a slogan in Indian language 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao'," he added.
