Price Hike: Petrol crosses Rs 81 mark in Delhi, diesel rises to Rs 73
New Delhi : In a yet another hike in the fuel prices, the petrol has crossed the Rs 81 mark in the national capital, while the diesel prices went up to Rs 73 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol costed Rs 88.39 per litre and diesel Rs 77.58 per lire.
On Wednesday, the prices remain unchanged after 15 consecutive days hike. Like Tuesday, the petrol was priced at Rs 80.87 while the diesel was sold at Rs 72.97 in Delhi.
Indian Government has already expressed its inability to control the spike in the prices of fuel amid depreciating value of Rupee against the dollar.
Meanwhile, it has also been reported that the Centre has no plans to reduce taxes on petrol and diesel prices in near future as neither the central government nor some states can afford to suffer revenue loss from such a move.
A couple of states have reduced their VAT to control the price rise. Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal have announced a deduction in fuel prices by Rs 2.5, 2 and Re 1 respectively.
