Punjab Elections: CM Charanjit Singh Channi to contest from these two seats
New Delhi : Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Channi will be contesting the upcoming election from Bhadaur constituency, the Congress announced as it released its third list of candidates for Punjab Assembly elections.
Earlier, the party had announced Channi's candidature from Chamkaur Sahib seat.
Ever since Charanjit Singh Channi has become the Chief Minister of the state, he had been indulged in bitter relationship with Congress state chief Navjot Singh Sidhu; their rivalry may hamper the Congress' fortune in the state.
Rahul Gandhi, earlier this week, had said that the party will be announcing the name of new Chief Ministerial candidate soon, adding that "two people can't lead, only one can".
Gandhi said the party will consult Congress workers before making the decision.
Meanwhile, Navjot Singh Sidhu has "assured" Rahul Gandhi that he would accept his decision, no matter what.
Punjab votes next month with four other states and the results will be declared on March 10.
