New Delhi : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is expected to move to Supreme Court tomorrow (Monday) in a bid to challenge the 2-year jail term verdict by Surat court in a defamation case against him.

Following the conviction, Mr Gandhi was disqualified from Lok Sabha as a member of Parliament. Meanwhile, a legal team by Congress is preparing to challenge the verdict in Supreme Court on Monday. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday said that a legal team was working on the case in which Rahul Gandhi has been convicted.

Mr Kharge has also slammed Central government for disqualifying Rahul Gandhi in a hurry. He claimed that the party is ready to fight the matter, both politically and legally.

He’s a bit to protest the decision of central government of disqualifying Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha. The party had initiated a Jai Bharat Satyagraha across the country demanding probe in the matter and the allegations of fraud levelled against the Adani group.

The defamation case was filed against Rahul Gandhi in 2019 for one of his remarks over people with surname Modi. He had said that it is just a coincidence that all the thieves have their surname as Modi.
