New Delhi : After facing a huge defeat in the Lok Sabha Election 2019, Congress President Rahul Gandhi is likely to tender his resignation as the chief of the party. Congress Working Committee (CWC) will be holding a key meeting on Saturday.

Apart from Rahul Gandhi, Raj Babbar is also likely to resign while taking responsibility of a poor show in the Uttar Pradesh. The official announcement is likely to be made after the CWC meet ends today.

According to sources in the party, it has been learned that the leaders will not accept Rahul Gandhi's resignation. Meanwhile, Karnataka Congress Working Committee president HK Patil has written a letter to Rahul Gandhi saying that it is time when we need to evaluate ourselves and for this he is resigning from his post.

Amethi Congress head Yogendra Mishra has also resigned from the post. On the seat, Rahul Gandhi had to face a huge defeat from BJP's Smriti Irani. Rahul managed to fetch 4,13,394 votes and Smriti Irani received 4,68,514.

Bharatiya Janata Party fetched 303 seats in the Lok Sabha Elections to fetch landslide victory.
