Rain in parts of Delhi amid intense heatwave

New Delhi : People of Delhi finally found some respite from the scorching heat as many parts of the national capital witnessed rain on Friday evening.

Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 43 degree Celsius in the day which came down a few notches due to scattered rainfall in the city.

On Thursday, the national capital registered its hottest day of July since 2012 at 43.1 degrees.

Temperatures have remained more than seven degrees Celsius above normal for this time of the year, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to classify it as "severe extreme heat".

Meanwhile, IMD has claimed that monsoon is not likely to arrive in Delhi before July 7 this year.
