Rajnath Singh's name added to six key committees, Amit Shah in all eight
New Delhi : Narendra Modi-led government on Thursday night named Rajnath Singh in four more key panels of the Union Cabinet-Parliamentary Affairs; Political Affairs; Investment and Growth; and Employment & Skill Development. Earlier, his name was added to only two Cabinet committees – Economic Affairs and security.
According to a new official release announced by the party at 10:19 pm on Thursday, Rajnath Singh will now be part of six of the eight cabinet committees, one of which he will be heading.
The change came amid reports that the presence of Amit Shah, (who was made home minister in the second Narendra Modi dispensation) in all eight committees had highlighted his position as the second most powerful person in the new government.
Of the total eight committees, PM Modi features in six, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in seven and Commerce and Railways Minister Piyush Goyal in five. Union Road Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari is a member of four committees. He is also a special invitee in the Cabinet Committee on Employment and Skill Development.
