New Delhi : Republic Day on 26th January is the most-awaited day for every Indians. It was on this date in 1950 that our Constitution of India came into effect. To salute the day, grand celebrations are organised at the Rajpath in the capital city of New Delhi and the Republic Day parade is a must-watch. Like previous years, the Republic Day 2019 will witness a special parade starting from Raisina Hill Rashtrapati Bhavan (the President's residence), along the Rajpath, past India Gate. What will happen in Republic Day parade

Republic Day marks a tribute to all the sacrifices our soldiers have made for our country. The The Republic Day 2019 Parade will start after the arrival of the President of India who is escorted by a pose of bodyguards on horse. He will be followed by the Prime Minister of India who will pay homage to those who lost their lives for the country in war at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate. After the President hoist the National flag as the National anthem plays along with 21-gun salute, the parade will begin.

The Parade is led by the three divisions of the armed forces (Army, Navy, Air Force) who showcase their strength and perform stunts along with a dramatic air show as the parade’s grand finale. People from different states and cities showcase their land’s culture and highlight India’s diversity in the most beautiful way. Powerful new artillery weapons are also on display at the parade for the first time this year, which includes a M777 American Ultra Light Howitzer and K9 Vajra-T. 

Timing of Republic Day parade 2019

The main Republic Day Parade gets underway at 9.30 a.m., following the flag hoisting at 9 a.m., on January 26 each year. It runs for around three hours.

The parade takes place from the Raisina Hill Rashtrapati Bhavan (the President's residence), along the Rajpath, past India Gate. 

How to book tickets for Republic Day 2019 parade

The tickets Republic Day 2019 celebration are available from 7th to 25th January at the Departmental Sales Counters at many locations. It must be noted that the tickets are available only at the departmental and Non-departmental stores mentioned below:

• North Block Roundabout
• Sena Bhawan (Gate 2)
• Jantar Mantar (Main Gate)
• Jamnagar House (opposite India Gate)
• Pragati Maidan (Gate 1 at Bhairon Road)
• Shastri Bhawan (near Gate 3)
• Red Fort 
• Parliament House Reception Office

Please note that the ticket counters will be open daily at 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.

However, from 23rd to 25th January 2019, the ticket counters at Shastri Bhavan, Jantar Mantar, Jamnagar House and Sena Bhavan will be open till 7 p.m.
