Schools, government offices to reopen in Kashmir from Monday: Sources
New Delhi : Schools and government offices will reopen in Kashmir on Monday (August 19), after the local administration took stock of the ground situation in the state, reported NDTV.
The government had told the Supreme Court that the restrictions from Kashmir will be removed in a course of few days.
"The ground situation is being reviewed daily and the Supreme Court must trust the security agencies," the government told the top court, adding the situation is improving gradually.
Kashmir Times executive editor Anuradha Bhasin has sought directions for the immediate restoration of communication lines so that the media can function freely in the region.
"I have read in the media report that restrictions on landline and broadline are likely to be removed by the evening today," Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said.
Jammu and Kashmir had been under an unprecedented security cover since August 4 – the day when the government announced scrapping of Article 370 and bifurcation of the state into two Union Territories.
