Schools reopen in Kashmir, but only a few students turn up: Report

Srinagar : As schools reopened on Monday in Kashmir, only a few students have reported turning up to the educational institutions. The government eased out restrictions further on the day.

Hindustan Times quoted officials saying that the government has made necessary arrangement to open 190 primary schools while security officials remained deployed in the valley.

Private schools, on the other hand, remained closed for the 15th consecutive day as parents remained insecure about the security situation.

Only Police Public School at Bemina and a few Kendriya Vidyalayas saw a handful of students turning up.

“There is no relaxation in restrictions in Pattan, Palhalan, Singhpora, Baramulla and Sopore towns. Primary schools in the rest of the district are open. We are collecting details about the number of students who have reported at their respective schools,” Hindustan Times quoted an official.
