SDMC bears huge loss due to illegal parking at Hauz Khas village

New Delhi : Some officials of Delhi Municipal Corporation and Delhi Police have been under scanner over unauthroised parking being operated at Hauz Khas Village, New Delhi.

South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has alleged that given the illegal parking, the corporation is losing lakhs of rupees every month. Commuters are being charged hefty parking fee, arbitrarily. 

Rs. 240 is charged per hour on weekends. When resisted, reports of assault with the drivers and commuters have been recorded. Some hooligans sitting in the parking bay resort to manhandling and assault with the vehicle owners/drivers. The complainant has alleged that no action has been taken against the perpetrators. 

According to the information, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation had canceled the contract for parking due to non-receipt of regular payment. It is alleged that the company that bagged the parking contract failed to pay around Rs 22 lakh as fee amount to the corporation.

Amit Kumar Bhardwaj, Director, RP Cell Municipal Corporation of Delhi, despite several calls and messages did not respond.
