Seven men attempt rape on Gurugram IT executive, five held
New Delhi : A Gurugram based IT executive has alleged seven people of trying to rape her outside her residence. Five of the accused have been arrested by the cops, two others are still at large.
According to the report filed, the men tried to sexually assault the 21-year-old around 9.50 pm on September 20. The incident happened when she was climbing the stairs to reach her apartment on the second floor of the building. The cops were informed about the incident by the family of the girl who cornered the accused after the girl narrated the ordeal she had to face.
In the complaint, the girl has also alleged that her family was also attacked when they tried to intervene in the matter. She claimed that while climbing the stairs, one of the seven accused waylaid her and attempted sexual assault.
Five accused, identified as Sawan, Ankit, Mukesh, Abhishek, Sachin, have been arrested and sent to judicial custody. While the other two – Hemant and Kamal Nandi – are still away from the reach of the police.
The FIR has been registered under the sections 354-A (sexual assault), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (insult of modesty) and 376-511 (rape attempt).
