Supreme Court rebukes Centre over Cauvery water verdict

Chennai : The Supreme Court on Monday rebuked Central Government for ignoring its order on Cauvery water that asked authorities to release more water for Karnataka.

The Centre was asked to submit a plan on how water will be distributed in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The issue had been pertaining among the two southern states from over a decade and now it has become a topic of political battle ahead elections on May 12.

The Centre had been repeatedly argued for more time to work on a strategy to decide water distribution in the states.
