Tamil Nadu registers first coronavirus death, 18 infected with Covid-19

New Delhi : A 54-year-old man in Tamil Nadu became the first case of coronavirus death in the state, state Health Minister C Vijayabaskar said. He also mentioned that the man had a medical history and was a diabetic.

"Despite our best efforts, the COVID-19 positive patient at MDU, Rajaji Hospital, passed away... he had medical history of prolonged illness with steroid dependent COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), uncontrolled diabetes with hypertension," the health minister tweeted.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Tamil Nadu rose to 18 on Tuesday after, six more people, including three woman, were tested positive.

Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar took to Twitter to declare the six new positive cases of COVID-19 — five of them with a travel history to a foreign country, and the one with a contact history.

This is also the highest number of cases registered in Tamin Nadu in one day.
