Teen girl assaulted by nine friends for a year in Mumbai

Mumbai : A 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by nine friends for over a year as they blackmailed her with an intimate video. Six of the accused have been arrested in the matter while three are still absconding.

According to a report by NDTV.com, the girl was in a relationship with a man who made her intimate video and circulated among his eight friends. They all started blackmailing her, taking sexual benefit of the situation. The girl did not reveal her ordeal to ensure safety of her family's image.

After being tortured for over an year, she finally mentioned this to her mother. Based upon the girl's complaint, the cops have nabbed six of the accused men.

The accused have been booked under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The six arrested accused were presented before the court and remanded in police custody till February 12.
