Terrorists abduct a local, shoot him dead in Jammu and Kashmir
Srinagar : On Thursday night, a local was reportedly shot dead by terrorists in Gulzarpora area of Awantipora. Reports quoting Jammu and Kashmir Police, the deceased Manzoor Ahmad Lone was a resident of Dogripora and was abducted by the militants.
“One individual was shot dead by terrorists in Gulzarpora, Awantipora last night. He has been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Lone, a resident of Dogripora. Initial investigation revealed that he was forcibly taken away by terrorists & shot dead. Case registered,” the officials said.
On Thursday evening, an NC leader was also shot by militants and was admitted to a hospital in a critical situation.
Condemning the incident, former chief minister Omar Abdullah tweeted, “My @JKNC_ colleague Mohd Ismail Wani, block President Bijbehara block in South Kashmir of has been shot & injured. He has been referred to Srinagar. Praying for his recovery.”
On March 8, there were reports that an Army personnel was abducted by the militants; but the Defence Ministry later dismissed all those reports saying that the jawan is safe.
Issuing a statement, the ministry said, "Media reports of the abduction of a serving Army soldier (Mohammad Yaseen) on leave from Qazipora, Chadoora, Budgam(J&K) are incorrect. The individual is safe. Speculations may please be avoided.”
Last year in November, Hurriyat leader Hafizullah Mir was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Achabal area of Anantnag district in South Kashmir. The separatist leader was declared brought dead at the hospital.
