New Delhi : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday gave strict directives to municipal corporations to tackle the problem of smog as soon as possible.

The chief minister has asked the local authorities to do everything in their power to tackle smog and pollution.

Among other measures, the municipal corporations have been directed to implement a complete ban on garbage burning in the urban areas.

The UP government plans to launch a radio campaign in the rural areas to create awareness about air pollution and its harmful impact by January 15.

The UP government would also tie-up with IIT-Kanpur to create artificial rain using the latest technology in order to help curb air pollution.
