Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh government has announced further relaxations as the number of new coronavirus cases continued to decline. After almost two months, the government has announced that malls and restaurants will be allowed to operate at 50% occupancy on weekdays; weekend lockdown will stay in the state.

Shops and markets outside containment zones are also allowed to open on weekdays till 9 pm.

Curfew timings have also been relaxed by two hours on weekdays. It will now be in force from 9 pm to 7 am.

The UP government has allowed several economic activities in the areas with less positivity rate. Government and private offices have been allowed to operate at full capacity. Cinema halls, stadiums, gyms, and swimming pools, schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutions will remain closed.

For marriages and other functions, a maximum of 50 guests have been allowed for both indoor and outdoor setup.

The state government had begun easing the Corona curfew from June 1 in the districts where active Covid-19 cases dropped below 600.

With 51 new Covid fatalities in Uttar Pradesh, the death count rose to 22,132 on Saturday, while the infection tally reached 17,04,139 after 294 more people tested positive for coronavirus, according to a health bulletin.
