Uttarakhand tunnel tragedy: PM Narendra Modi speaks to CM Dhami, takes stock of situation

Dehradun : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke to Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, over the phone and inquired about the current situation of 40 workers trapped inside the under-construction tunnel for over 24 hours in Uttarakhashi.

According to an official statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called twice to take stock of the situation.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw have also spoken to Chief Minister Dhami about the incident.

The Chief Minister has confirmed that various states and central agencies are contributing to the rescue operation to ensure well-being of trapped workers. He also assured that the worker stranded inside a tunnel are safe, and the efforts are being made to pull them out soon.

"I personally visited the incident site and did the inspection, the efforts are constantly being made to ensure that the trapped workers are pulled out safely," said CM Pushkar Dhami.
