Viral video shows Hindus fleeing West Bengal amid death threat

Kolkata : Ever since the election campaigns began in the West Bengal, the reports of several violence incidents emerged from the area. The major one was a clash between TMC and BJP supporters during a roadshow.

The violence at Vidyasagar college, however, appears to have deflected attention from another serious bout of violence that has reared its ugly head in another part of Kolkata.

On May 13, there were reports of violence at Satgachia Assembly Constituency in Diamond Harbour. The authorities have been facing difficulties in handling the situation. According to media reports, houses and shops of Hindus were vandalised by Trinamool goons. The authorities term the act as political and not communal.

“Several houses, shops and vehicles were ransacked during the clashes that began on Friday night and continued for three days. No casualty was reported,” a senior official at the state secretariat told PTI. “This is a political clash, not communal. We have sought a report from the district administration on this,” the IAS officer was reported to have said on Tuesday.

Now, a video has gone viral on the internet that shows Hindus fleeing from the area amid death threats by the goons.

However, the authenticity of the video is yet to be checked. But, the situation in the state is volatile and Election Commission's decision to prepone campaign end date is a clear indication to it.
