New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who missed his third ED summon in a row, raised questions over why the summons are being issued ahead of elections in a case that has been running for a long duration of about 2 years.

His remarks came a day after ministers from Aam Aadmi Party hinted his suspected arrest after planned raids at his residence in connection with the liquor scam.

Hitting at BJP, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, "Several AAP leaders have been summoned and jailed in fictious cases. There has been no evidence against anyone and nothing has been proven… They are just targeting and putting anyone in the jail. Now, BJP is aiming to arrest me and tarnish my reputation by levelling false allegations and baseless summons."

"My lawyers have informed that the summonses are unlawful, and I have provided a comprehensive explanation for this in correspondence to the Enforcement Directorate. However, they have not addressed any of the reasons I presented, suggesting a lack of substantive responses. The BJP's motive is not genuine investigation; rather, they aim to hinder my participation in the Lok Sabha elections. Despite the ongoing investigation for two years, they have chosen to issue summonses just before the elections. The question arises: why weren't summonses issued earlier?" he asked.

Delhi CM also noted that he had appeared before CBI in the same matter eight months back. Now, ED has issued summon two months ahead of the elections. This shows their intention to arrest me in guise of questioning.

On Wednesday, Delhi ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj had made shocking claims of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's arrest after Enforcement Directorate's likely raid at his residence. The ministers have said that they have information that the raid will be done on Thursday morning.

"News coming in that ED is going to raid @ArvindKejriwal’s residence tmrw morning. Arrest likely," Atishi tweeted at 11.50pm on Wednesday.

However, no raids were conducted on Thursday by the Enforcement Directorate.
