Will keep sending gifts but no votes to PM Narendra Modi: Mamata Banerjee

New Delhi : Reacting on a statement made by PM Narendra Modi in his 'non-political' interview with Akshay Kumar, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that she will send rosogullas and gifts but will not give her vote. "We welcome guests with rosogollas and gifts but not a single vote will be given (to BJP)," she said without naming PM Modi.

Rejecting a possibility of getting any political sympathy from Mamata Banerjee, she made the comment in a rally in Serampore in Hooghly district after PM Modi's interview.

Talking to Akshay Kumar in a candid interview, PM Modi has said, "People will be surprised and I should not say this in the election season, but Mamata didi sends me gifts every year. She still sends me one or two kurtas that she picks herself a year."

PM Modi told Akshay Kumar that Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sent him new types of sweets every year. "Once Mamata didi found out, she also started sending me sweets once or twice a year," he chuckled.

While in political terms we have seen PM Modi launching an attack on her with titles like "speed breaker didi" and "sticker didi", the Congress alleged that the BJP is having a secret tie-up with Trinamool Congress.

Bengal votes in seven phases in the national elections that end on May 19.
