Winter Session begins today, all eyes on bill to repeal farm laws
New Delhi : On the list of tasks for Monday, a bill has been listed that will repeal the controversial farm laws. On the first day of the Winter Session of the Parliament, the bill will be introduced and it is likely that the bill will be cleared on the same day.
A debate is likely on the Minimum Support Price to farmers if it gets misses in the bill. The Opposition parties have demanded that a MSP must be assured to the farmers for their crops.
Joining the Congress in seeking legal guarantees on the MSP were Trinamool Congress, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, YSR Congress Party, Biju Janata Dal, Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Aam Admi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, and the Left parties.
The Bill will be circulated in Rajya Sabha on the same day if it gets cleared in the Lok Sabha today.
Explaining the withdrawal of the farm laws in the repeal Bill, the government said the need of the hour was “to take everyone together on the path of inclusive growth and development”.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an address to the nation, had announced that his government will pass the Bill during Winter Session that will cancel all three laws and will null-void departments constituted for the same.
He had urged farmers to return home and clear the borders surrounding Delhi-NCR region; but the farmers have said that they will only move after the laws are repealed and a MSP is assured for their crops.
