World's biggest single day spike in coronavirus cases registered in India

New Delhi : India on Thursday registered world's biggest single day spike in coronavirus cases with over 3.14 lakh cases in 24 hours. With this, the total case load in the nation has gone to 1.59 crores.

In another grim record, India also registered more than 2100 deaths in the same time duration, highest till date.

India's fresh surge in cases of 314,835 surpasses the previous highest one-day rise in the world of 297,430 cases posted by the United States in January, news agency Reuters reported.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed the nation and urged people to remain vigilant and follow all coronavirus guidelines. He also asked people to stay at home and come out only for essential needs.

He also mentioned that lockdown will be the last option for government to stop spread of coronavirus cases.
